You will be walking 5-7 hours at a moderate pace to complete approximately 20km per day, so a good level of walking fitness is required. Each day the walk will start at 9am, with some buses from 8am.
Day 1 – Monday 15 Nov
Matiatia to Rangihoua – Today is all about the southern coast. Walk the headlands venturing anti-clockwise from Matiatia Bay and experience breathtakingly beautiful views in all directions, expect a little coastal scramble, before finishing your day at the foot of Rangihoua.
Day 2 – Tuesday 16 Nov
Rangihoua to Awaawaroa – This is the tougher bush section of Te Ara Hura, with absolutely spectacular views with lots of ups and downs, through eclectic Rocky Bay and the notorious “rope-assisted climb”.
Day 3 – Wednesday 17 Nov
Awaawaroa to Man O’ War – This is the eastern section which begins with stunning bush tracks as you venture east, taking in plenty of coastal roads and track and finishing at Man O’ War for well-deserved refreshments.
Day 4 – Thursday 18 Nov
Man O’ War to Onetangi – Continue on this stunning old farm road and then be treated to a tour as we cross private land through Rarowhara, Pie Melon Bay, and down to Onetangi Beach.
Day 5 – Friday 19 Nov
A day of gorgeous beaches, coastal vistas and several regenerating reserves, ending back where you started 5 days ago, at Matiatia. It’s now time to celebrate the completion of 100kms!
What an incredible opportunity – grab your friends and get ready for five days of challenging fun!
PLEASE NOTE: There is a fee of $175 for this walk to cover shuttle costs and a few drinks, nibbles, and winery surprises.
